Plinky Prompt: Favorite childhood food

Stuffed artichokes. My grandmother, a first generation Italian-American, used to stuff large artichokes with parsley, parm cheese, garlic, and bread crumbs. She would drizzle them with olive oil and steam them till they were soft. We ate them only on holidays and I always equated the holidays with these delicious vegetables. If someone wasn’t finishing their artichoke, grandma would remind them about how she had to haul them all the way to the house on the bus, she never learned to drive, and that there was so much work involved in them that no one had better dare waste them. I never did, they were my favorite part of the holiday dinner and still are.
